Lesson 3

Be consistent.

One of the greatest lessons I am learning in my current position is the necessity of consistency. Our published rates have not changed, but the rules as to what deals we are and aren't able to make change on a daily basis. Acceptable rates for one are not necessarily acceptable rates for all. The company priorities change on a daily basis. We try new things all the time before we've given the last new thing a chance to work.

I am not saying that you have to subscribe to the "things need to be done the way they've always been done" philosophy, but you do need a consistent company culture and certain landmarks so you can always find your way through a problem.
